"Redefining Longevity": Proceedings of the October 28, 2014 Advocacy Network Listening Session for the 2015 White House Conference on Aging

This report is a write-up of priorities and recommendations developed from a pre-White House Conference on Aging (WHCOA) event hosted by the Washington Association of AAAs (W4A) and the Washington State Council on Aging in October 2014. All four WHCOA issue areas were discussed with a group of about 125 people made up mostly by State Council on Aging members, AAA Advisory Council members and staff invited from all of the AAAs.

Strengthening Long-Term Services and Supports: A Tool to Assess and Improve Medicaid Managed Care

This tool promotes consumer-focused MLTSS by making it easier to identify weaknesses and promote better practices. The tool combines a checklist for assessing MLTSS with examples of practices, policies or contract language that implement the criteria.

A resource for participant direction program stakeholders, this toolkit is in response to new rules promulgated by the US Department of Labor (DOL) that will take effect January 1, 2015. Application of Existing External Quality Review Protocols to Managed Long Term Services and Supports

This guidance document is intended to provide guidance to states on how to apply the revised protocols for External Quality Review (EQR) of Medicaid managed care organizations, released in 2012, to managed long term services and supports (MLTSS) programs. Although the protocols already apply to MLTSS generally, this document offers specific suggestions to make their application to long term services and supports (LTSS) clearer and provides suggestions, examples and illustrations.

Protecting Alabama’s Elders Act & Toolkit

Alabama now has a new set of laws in place to fight elder abuse, neglect and exploitation. This legislation will strengthen Alabama’s laws to protect our seniors and provide our law enforcement agencies with the tools needed to punish those who hurt them. The Elder Abuse Protection Toolkit outlines the red flags and questions to ask if someone suspects abuse. Review the resources that can help identify and combat elder abuse.

Project 2020: Building on the Promise of Home and Community-Based Services

The goal of this coordinated national campaign from n4a & NASUA is to provide the resources to implement consumer-centered and cost effective long-term care strategies authorized in the 2006 reauthorization of the Older Americans Act. Empower the Aging Services Network to implement these strategies through a three-pronged program encompassing person centered access to information, evidence-based disease management and health promotion activities, and enhanced home and community-based services.

The Aging Network and Care Transitions: Preparing your Organization Toolkit

A new resource for organizations within the Aging Network that are interested in developing a care transitions program, providing information, tools and case studies.
