The National Association of Medicaid Directors has released a new issue brief explaining how ex parte verification can be used to automate Medicaid eligibility processes.
Ex parte verification, or attempting to determine a member’s eligibility for Medicaid without requiring action from the individual, is required under federal law. H.R. 1 expands the use of ex parte verification. Under H.R. 1 requirements, Congress mandates states to use available data sources to attempt to verify if an individual meets the work and community engagement requirements – or falls under an exemption or exclusion – before requesting information from the individual.
