Issue Brief: Supporting Tribal Elders Through Home and Community-Based Services

American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) populations face the highest health inequities of any population in the United States, which creates significant challenges for AIANs as they age. This issue brief discusses the role of home- and community-based long-term care in tribal communities, the unique rules that may apply to tribal communities, and the barriers and cultural factors that advocates should be aware of when supporting tribal elders in accessing these benefits.
