Public Policy Article: Changes in Aging Policy since 2020

Article Publication Date
Summary
In this article, Debra Lipson, Christine Bishop, and Laurel Beedon look back over four years of adopted state and federal policies designed to improve health access and economic security for older adults by expanding Medicare benefits and continuing Medicaid coverage, enhancing nursing home quality and staffing, increasing access to home and community-based services and family caregiver support, and reducing financial hardship during the public health emergency. They demonstrate concerns for the future regarding inadequate long-term and comprehensive funding for Medicare, Social Security, and LTSS. Lipson, Bishop, and Beedon provide recommendations for the future of the aging policy agenda.
