Summary
ADvancing States is pleased to announce the release of a new issue brief, “Strengthening Benefit Awareness Through No Wrong Door Outreach and Marketing”.
With support from the National Council on Aging (NCOA), this brief describes the critical role of state No Wrong Door (NWD) Systems and their community partners in connecting older adults and people with disabilities to essential services, supports, and financial assistance programs. Each year, millions of individuals miss opportunities to access services and benefits that can improve their well-being and reduce health care and other living expenses. These include Medicare Savings Programs, the Low-Income Subsidy program (Extra Help), and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Through coordinated outreach, effective marketing, and strong community partnerships, NWD Systems help bridge this gap by increasing awareness of available benefits and connecting individuals to information, assistance, and person-centered counseling. This issue brief highlights best practices from state NWD Systems and their partners, offering examples of how targeted outreach, innovative marketing, and collaborative approaches can expand access to programs and services that support the health, financial security, and independence of older adults and people with disabilities.
