Centers for Independent Living
ACL recently released the Annual Report on Centers for Independent Living for program year (PY) 2019. CILs offer support for individuals with disabilities who want to live independently in their communities. The CIL program provides financial assistance to local CILs and other CBOs. This annual report includes data from CIL annual program performance reports, federal program staff oversight and compliance activities and publicly available information on grantee websites between 9/30/18 - 9/29/19
A project of ADvancing States and NCIL, this report shares information on a range of issues – including services and referrals, technology and social media, partnerships and systems, quality assurance, training and certification, and sustainability – from the perspectives of I&R/A professionals in state agencies on aging and disability, Area Agencies on Aging, Centers for Independent Living, Aging and Disability Resource Centers, No Wrong Door systems, and other non-profit human service organizations.

This training addressed the new core services for centers for independent living as a natural extension of the Independent Living philosophy. Assisting people to move out of institutions – or staying out of them in the first place – is some of the most important and impactful work that CILs do. The CIL-NET organized this interactive workshop in Atlanta to help figure it all out together – as a community. The presenters provided a great deal of information and real-world guidance.
