Kentucky Self-Determination: Kevin Webb and Kim Brown Self-Determination Act

This is a Kentucky bill that was passed when a parent/advocate took her son onto the floor of the Senate and lobbied for its passage - this parent is one of the members of the Real Choices Consumer Advisory Committee. The bill defines self-determined funding and allows for a pilot project for individualized and self-determined funding.

2003 CMS Conference Presentations

Participant Experience Survey and Workbook for Improving Quality Conference Call

This audio conference was organized specifically to meet the needs of grantees who expressed interest in hearing more about two CMS-sponsored tools designed to help states develop and refine their quality assurance and quality improvement systems. The two tools are the Participant Experience Survey and Workbook.

Early Lessons from the Cash and Counseling Demonstrations

Under 1115 Research and Demonstration waivers granted by HCFA, the CCDE program was implemented in three states: Arkansas, New Jersey, and Florida. Consumers are able to choose between traditional agency-delivered personal assistance services and their cash equivalent. Outcomes from the treatment and control groups are compared in areas such as client satisfaction, quality of care, costs, the types and amounts of personal assistance services received.
