              Paper developed by SAMHSA/RWJ grantee for the evidence-based practices project.  Paper is directed at Mental Health program leaders and discusses assertive community treatment. Assertive community treatment (ACT) started when a group of mental health professionals recognized that many people with severe mental illnesses were being discharged from inpatient care in stable condition only to be readmitted relatively soon thereafter.
