Behind Closed Doors: Understanding the Resident Experience

Article Publication Date
Summary
The National Consumer Voice for Long-Term Care has recently released a report summarizing results from a survey of over 450 individuals living in long-term care facilities.

The survey included questions regarding whether they are treated with dignity, have access to technology, and can live life on their own terms. Participants were also asked about issues that impact their daily life, including staffing, food, and activities.

This report highlights themes identified in survey responses, such as poor staffing levels, feelings of loneliness, and a lack of autonomy and control over their lives. To hear directly from residents, the report also includes a sample of quotes from individuals living in long-term care facilities.
