The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services is hiring a State Long Term Care Ombudsman. This position will provide leadership, planning and direction for the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. 

 

The State Long Term Care Ombudsman is responsible for ensuring the program represents the interests of the residents living in Long-Term Care facilities, Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living facilities or Critical Access Hospitals with swing beds throughout the state through the implementation of and compliance with Federal, State and local laws, regulations and other governmental policies and actions.

 

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of aging and disability issues

  • Knowledge of training principles and practices

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Skill in managing competing timelines and deadlines and managing the logistics of numerous, often complex situations

  • Hold minimum educational and professional qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, human services, or public administration

    • Two years job-related work experience in program management of services to persons with disabilities and/or those in the aging community

    • Certified local ombudsman
