Commit to Connect Webinar: The Impact of Falls Prevention Programs on Social Connectedness
ACL’s Commit to Connect initiative will hold a webinar highlighting how falls prevention programming can be a powerful intervention for maintaining and rebuilding social networks.
Research demonstrates that socially isolated older adults are more likely to fall due to their reduced activity, weakened muscle strength, and depression. Older adults may also avoid situations where they feel vulnerable to falls, which can potentially accelerate physical and cognitive decline. Evidence-based falls prevention programs are increasingly recognized as effective in also addressing social isolation and loneliness of participants.
This webinar will emphasis the important role of falls prevention programs in addressing social isolation and loneliness and how they are scaling their impact.
