ADvancing States Letter to Congress Regarding American Health Care Act

On March 9th, 2017, ADvancing States sent a comment letter to Congress on the American Health Care Act (AHCA).  The AHCA would repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and implement a number of changes to the individual and group health care marketplace as well as to the Medicaid program.  ADvancing States is a bipartisan organization and will not endorse, oppose, or take any other stance on bills that are intended to repeal and replace the ACA, including the AHCA.  However, we have identified a number of policies within this legislation that could be problematic or operationally challenging to state aging, disability, and LTSS agencies.  The comments focus on opportunities to improve technical aspects and policy details of the bill.  ADvancing States is committed to working with Congress to advance policies that promote the improvement and sustainability of programs that enable older adults and people with disabilities to live, work, and spend time in the most integrated settings appropriate to their needs and preferences.   To view the full letter, click here.
